Classic Banana Bread

The best banana bread by far

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 55–60 minutes
Total Time: ~1 hour 10 minutes
Servings: 10 slices

Ingredients

  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1½ cups)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat Oven:
Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan, or line with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream Butter & Sugar:
In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar together until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients:
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract.
  5. Combine:
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
(Don’t overmix — this keeps the bread moist!)
  6. Add Nuts (Optional):
Fold in chopped walnuts or your favorite add-ins like chocolate chips.
  7. Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 55–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool:
Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing
